Technical Specifications
CPVC solvent cement is not the same as standard PVC cement ā the chemical formula is specifically developed for CPVCās higher chlorine content. Using standard PVC cement on CPVC joints is a common installation error that creates weak, failure-prone joints. Always use the correct grade.
Astral CPVC cement creates a chemical weld by partially dissolving the pipe and fitting surfaces, which then fuse together as the solvent evaporates. The resulting joint is monolithic ā as strong as the pipe itself with no mechanical interface that could loosen over time.
Following the application, hold the joint for 30 seconds to prevent push-back, then allow the recommended cure time before pressurizing the system.
